The First Perfect Patient Journey

One of the latest additions to the team, Events and Marketing Coordinator Ruth Martin, brings us up to speed on what to expect from her first project – a series of ‘Perfect Patient Journey’ events. What’s more, she gives you a few things to think about if you’re looking to create the perfect patient journey.

The Perfect Patient Journey events have kicked off around the country and are going down a storm.  The one day event is split into two halves, with Sheila Scott hosting the morning session on how to identify what your patients really want and how to give it to them.  Michael Bentley takes over in the afternoon to give delegates an overview of Treatment Coordination and how this can be worked into a busy practice.  So far delegates have all felt they have come away with lots of ideas on how to improve things within their practices and increase their profits.

Rebecca from Confident Smile Dental Practice was at the Heathrow Perfect Patient Journey event and described the day as, ‘Great, full of practical advice, delivered in a relaxed, friendly manner’.

So far my highlights have been seeing Sheila and Michael in action.  I’ve heard so much about them, but hearing them has been an eye opener. Sheila starts the morning by challenging the dental teams – are patients more interested in emergency care or cost, the timings of their appointments or the sterilisation of equipment?  The answers are quite surprising.  Also, many of the practices have found her advice on building trust with patients invaluable.

Michael is like a whirlwind when he starts speaking.  He is so good at explaining the role of the Treatment Coordinator and how it can used to dramatically increase the profits of the practices.  Again, what the dental teams on the day said is that it’s his step-by-step guide to introducing the position that is the most useful.  They are all leaving with lots of practical tips and ideas to take back to their practices.

In the words of Rachael from Newbury Smile Studio, ‘I would recommend this event to everyone.  These events can sometimes be quite boring, but not today!’

So with the first few events under my belt, I’ll be heading out to the next ones in Nottingham (19/3/14) and Exeter (25/3/14). It’s going to be a busy month!
