Take the Lead from Blue Peter

Can you remember all those Blue Peter charity appeals from when you were a child?

Children and parents across the country would tune in to each programme to see if another light had been lit on the journey to the overall target. It was very engaging. Why not take the lead from Blue Peter and be open, honest and visual with your practice goals and how you and the team are doing against them. Making things visual makes them more real and helps keep your team focused on the tasks in hand. It also helps to identify when things are going off track a lot sooner in the process.

So, don’t fall into the trap of setting goals but never updating anyone on how near to or far off you are from these targets!

Giving your team a good understanding on what you’re all working towards and where you are against that target keeps them engaged and interested in getting there, and having those visual reminders of how you are doing, just like the folks at Blue Peter, keeps everyone motivated and invested in a common goal.
